Community Liaison

Through this program, we will be able to provide band rep support for urban community members from distant First Nations or First Nations who do not have band reps to service their urban members.  Through a Band Council Resolution, we can provide the needed supports for the First Nation and their urban members involved in the child welfare system.   This program will ensure urban community members of your First Nation will have access to services both internally and externally from N’Amerind to address their individual needs.

The N’Amerind Friendship Centre which services all Aboriginal people regardless of status and will provide representation for urban Non-status, Metis and Inuit people in child welfare matters. The Community Liaison Coordinator will provide a coordinated approach in case management to address child welfare matters for Urban Aboriginal community members. Our response team consists of the Drug/alcohol Program, Healing and Wellness Program, Family Support, Akwe:go Program, Pre-Natal Program, Family Court Worker Program and the Life Long Care Program. Working together we will assist the family in creating an effective family case plan to help provide growth with the goal of re-integration of the family unit.
